The acceptance of IYT certificates is dependent on the local maritime authorities and the charter company in each country. IYT certificates are generally recognized internationally, but each country and each charter company sets its own requirements.

We recommend you contact the charter company and ask what qualifications are required to charter there.

If you are sailing your own private vessel, you will need to ask the local port captain, harbor master, maritime administration or marine police in the country you are sailing.

There are many global jurisdictions, rules, regulations and laws which may vary between locations for which information IYT do not have on hand.

If you intend to work onboard a vessel you will need to check with your employer, yacht management company or Flag State of the vessel.
