The
Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) have provided a pathway for IYT
certificate holders to gain AMSA certificates of competency.
The IYT
certificates AMSA will accept in an application as part of the prerequisites to
obtain AMSA Certificates of Competencies are:
- IYT
Master of Yachts Coastal Certificate of competence ("Sail" or
"Power and Sail")
- IYT
Master of Yachts Limited Certificate of competence ("Sail" or
"Power and Sail")
- IYT
Small Powerboat & RIB Master Certificate
- IYT
Boat Engineer Grade 1 Certificate of Attendance (can be used for engineering component required for application for Sailing Master CoCs.

of medical fitness for near coastal seafarers (AMSA form 1850) | Australian

in Australia (the Office of Maritime Communication). If someone wishes to
operate a marine radio in Australia using an overseas certificate, they must
hold a GMDSS radio operator certificate, issued by the flag authority of the
country where they hold the radio certificate (for AMSA to accept this it must be
from a country eligible
for certificates of recognition).
