Different documentation is needed for
revalidating different types of certificates.
Here are the requirements for each type:
ICC (International Certificate of
Competency) certificates

Master of Yachts Coastal/Mate 200 Tons,
Limited and Unlimited
certificates
- Documented
proof of 50 days at sea on yachts within the last 5
years (sea time logbook scans or
testimonial letters from captain,
yacht owner or management
company)
- Sea time
should be obtained on yachts at
least 10 meters in length. If
sea time is on yachts less than 10
meters in length we will evaluate
on a case by case basis.
- If you
cannot provide proof of sea time
on yachts within the last 5 years a
practical examination resit may be
required.
- Current
medical fitness examination - must be
dated within the last 2 years, and
must contain colour blindness test,
and list any restrictions. Download a

- All current STCW Basic Safety Training Certificates including Maritime Security Awareness and Refresher Training Certificates

Do I have to renew my Master of Yachts Limited if I hold a Master of Yachts Unlimited Certificate of Competency?
Technically the answer is no as the Master of Yachts Unlimited is a higher level than the Master of Yachts Limited.
However, The Master of Yachts Limited is proof that one can command a vessel up to 200 tons, Power or Sail or Power & Sail.
The Master of Yachts Unlimited is proof that one can navigate using a
sextant offshore but does not state whether it is Power or Sail.
Most insurance companies want to see the Master of Yachts Limited and
not the Unlimited which is why both are recommended to be kept current.
Master of Yachts Inshore 80GT
certificates
- Some form of documented proof of
boating within last 5 years
(personal logbook scans,
testimonial letters from captain,
yacht owner or management company, charter agreement proving
rental of a boat, or ownership of a
personal boat. If worked for any
company running boats provide a
testimonial letter from that
company)
- Sea time should be obtained
on yachts at least 10 meters
in length. If seatime is on
yachts less than 10 meters in
length we will evaluate on a
case by case
basis.
- If you cannot provide proof
of boating within the last 5
years we cannot process the
renewal but may be able to
offer a lesser qualification
like "Small Powerboat &
RIB Master".
- Current medical fitness

the last 2 years, and must contain
